Indications
Primary nocturnal enuresis.
Adults and Children
<6yrs: not recommended. 6–17yrs: initially 0.2mg once daily at bedtime; individualize; max 0.6mg. When switching to tabs give 1st oral dose 24 hrs after last intranasal dose.
Precautions
Monitor fluid intake, urine volume and osmolality. Fluid/electrolyte imbalance (eg, cystic fibrosis). Coronary artery insufficiency. Hypertension. Nasal mucosal changes may cause unreliable absorption; discontinue use until nasal problems resolve (nasal forms). Very young. Elderly. Pregnancy (Cat.B). Nursing mothers.
Interactions
Caution with other pressor agents.
Adverse Reactions
Headache, nausea, nasal congestion, rhinitis, flushing, abdominal cramps, water intoxication, hyponatremia, changes in blood pressure, epistaxis, sore throat, cough; seizures in children from plasma hypoosmolality (rare).
