Generic Name
Phenylephrine HCl 2.5mg; per 5mL; liq; raspberry flavor; contains sodium 14mg/5mL.
Indications
Nasal congestion.
Children
<2yrs: do not use. 2–5yrs: 5mL. 6–11yrs: 10mL. Repeat every 4 hours as needed. Max 6 doses/24hrs.
Contraindications
Within 14 days of MAOIs.
Precautions
Cardiovascular disease. Hypertension. Diabetes. Thyroid disease. Sodium-restricted diet.
Interactions
Hypertensive crisis with MAOIs. β-blockers may increase pressor response of sympathomimetics. Antagonizes antihypertensives.
Adverse Reactions
Nervousness, dizziness, insomnia.
