Indications
Nasal congestion.
Adults and Children
<6 yrs: not recommended. ≥6 yrs: 2–3 sprays in each nostril up to every 10–12 hrs; max 3 days.
Contraindications
During or within 14 days of MAOIs or tricyclic antidepressants. β-blockers may increase the pressor response of sympathomimetics. Antagonizes antihypertensives.
Precautions
Cardiovascular disease. Hypertension. GI or urinary obstruction. Hyperthyroidism. Diabetes. Children. Pregnancy. Nursing mothers.
Interactions
Hypertensive crisis with MAOIs, tricyclics. β-blockers may increase the pressor effects of sympathomimetics.
Adverse Reactions
Nasal discomfort, rebound congestion, sneezing, headache, tremors, palpitations, insomnia, sweating, nervousness, pallor, lightheadedness.
