Generic Name
Chlorpheniramine maleate 1mg, dextromethorphan HBr 7.5mg; per 5mL; liq; grape and fruit punch flavors; alcohol-free; contains sodium 3mg/5mL.
Indications
Rhinorrhea, allergy symptoms, cough.
Children
<2yrs: do not use. 2–5yrs: individualize. 6–11yrs: 10mL. Repeat every 6 hours as needed.
Adults
20mL every 6 hours.
Contraindications
Children <2yrs old. Within 14 days of MAOIs.
Precautions
GI or GU obstruction. Glaucoma. Asthma. Lower respiratory disorders.
Interactions
Hypertensive crisis with MAOIs. Alcohol, other CNS depressants potentiated.
Adverse Reactions
Drowsiness, anticholinergic effects, excitability in children.
