| Contraindications |
|
Severe hypertension or coronary artery disease. Bronchospasm. GI or urinary obstruction. Glaucoma. Within 14 days of MAOIs. |
| Precautions |
|
Hypertension. Ischemic heart disease. Arteriosclerosis. Thyroid disease. Diabetes. Elderly. Young children. History of bronchospasm, emphysema, or COPD. Pregnancy (Cat.C). Nursing mothers: not recommended. |
| Interactions |
|
Hypertensive crisis with MAOIs. Alcohol, other CNS depressants potentiated. Guanethidine, other antihypertensives antagonized. |
| Adverse Reactions |
|
Drowsiness, anticholinergic effects, GI upset, dizziness, anxiety, weakness, insomnia, thickening of bronchial secretions, hypotension, excitability in children, respiratory depression or difficulty, palpitations. |
