Indications
Cough and congestion.
Children
Dissolve on tongue. <4yrs: do not use. 4–6yrs: 1 thin strip. 6–12yrs: 2 thin strips. Repeat every 4 hours as needed; max 6 doses/24 hours.
Contraindications
Children <4yrs old. During or within 14 days of MAOIs.
Precautions
Hypertension. Cardiovascular disease. Thyroid disease. Diabetes. Asthma. Lower respiratory disorders.
Interactions
See Contraindications. Hypertensive crisis with MAOIs. β-blockers may increase pressor effects of sympathomimetics. Antagonizes guanethidine, other antihypertensives.
Adverse Reactions
Nervousness, dizziness, insomnia.
