Indications
Rhinorrhea, allergy symptoms, nasal congestion.
Children
<2yrs: do not use. 2–5yrs: individualize. 6–11yrs: chew 2 tabs. Repeat every 4 hours as needed.
Contraindications
Children <2yrs old. Within 14 days of MAOIs.
Precautions
Hypertension. Cardiovascular disease. Thyroid disease. Diabetes. Glaucoma. GI or GU obstruction. Asthma. Lower respiratory disorders.
Interactions
Hypertensive crisis with MAOIs. β-blockers may increase the pressor effects of sympathomimetics. Antagonizes guanethidine, other antihypertensives. May potentiate sedation with alcohol, other CNS depressants.
Adverse Reactions
Drowsiness, anticholinergic effects, dizziness, nervousness, insomnia, excitability in children.
