<6 yrs: not recommended. 6–12 yrs: 10mL every 4 hours as needed.
Adults
20mL every 4 hours as needed.
Contraindications
Asthma.
Precautions
Increased intracranial pressure. Head injury. Respiratory impairment. Pulmonary, renal or hepatic dysfunction. Very young. Seizures. Fever. Acute abdomen. Hypothyroidism. Addison's disease. Ulcerative colitis. GI or urinary obstruction. Children with atopy. Acute alcoholism. Drug abusers. Elderly. Debilitated. Pregnancy (Cat.C). Labor and delivery, nursing mothers: not recommended.
Interactions
Potentiates alcohol, other CNS depressants, tranquilizers, antidepressants (esp. MAOIs).
Adverse Reactions
Respiratory depression, sedation, drowsiness, dizziness, dysphoria, constipation, GI disturbances, hypertension, orthostatic hypotension, palpitations, urinary retention, blurred vision, anxiety.
