| Contraindications |
|
Severe hypertension or coronary artery disease. During or within 14 days of MAOIs. Narrow-angle glaucoma. Urinary retention. Peptic ulcer. Acute asthma. |
| Precautions |
|
Hypertension. Diabetes. Ischemic heart or cardiovascular disease. Hyperthyroidism. Increased intraocular pressure. GU or GI obstruction. Hepatic or renal impairment. Autonomic neuropathy. Ulcerative colitis. Young children. Elderly. Pregnancy (Cat.C). Nursing mothers: not recommended. |
| Interactions |
|
Hypertensive crisis with MAOIs. β-blockers may increase the pressor effects of sympathomimetics. Alcohol, other CNS depressants potentiated. Guanethidine, other antihypertensives antagonized. Increased risk of arrhythmias with digoxin. Increased anticholinergic effects with antipsychotics and tricyclic antidepressants. Concomitant sildenafil: not recommended. Antacids may interfere with methscopolamine absorption. |

Drowsiness, anticholinergic effects, GI upset, dizziness, headache, nervousness, insomnia, flushing, irritability, hypotension, respiratory difficulty, palpitations. |
