Generic Name
Naproxen sodium 220mg, pseudoephedrine HCl 120mg; ext-rel tabs; contains sodium 20mg/caplet.
Indications
Nasal congestion, sinus pressure, headache, fever.
Children
Not recommended.
Adults
Swallow whole. 1 caplet every 12 hours.
Contraindications
Aspirin allergy. Coronary artery bypass graft surgery. During or within 14 days of MAOIs.
Precautions
Hypertension. Diabetes. Bleeding disorders. Glaucoma. GU obstruction. GI, hepatic, renal, thyroid disease. Dehydration. Elderly. Pregnancy; avoid during 3rd trimester. Nursing mothers: not recommended.
Interactions
Hypertensive crisis with MAOIs (see Contraindications). β-blockers may increase pressor effects of sympathomimetics. May potentiate anticoagulants, CNS stimulants. Caution with corticosteroids. Avoid aspirin, other pain relievers. Increased risk of GI bleed with alcohol.
Adverse Reactions
GI upset/bleed, rash (discontinue if occurs), nervousness, drowsiness, insomnia. See literature re: risk of cardiovascular events.
