Zileuton 600mg; ext-rel tabs.
Indications
Prophylaxis and chronic treatment of asthma.
Children
Not recommended.
Adults
Swallow whole. 1200mg twice daily.
Contraindications
Active liver disease. Transaminase level ≥3xULN.
Precautions
Not for primary treatment of acute attacks. Evaluate liver function before initiation of and during therapy (discontinue if signs of liver disease occur). History of liver disease. Alcohol consumption. Pregnancy (Cat.C). Nursing mothers: not recommended.
Interactions
Potentiates theophylline (reduce dose of theophylline by about ½). Potentiates warfarin, propranolol (possibly other β-blockers). Monitor CYP3A4 substrates.
Adverse Reactions
Headache, dyspepsia, sinusitis, pharyngolaryngeal pain, nausea, asthenia, myalgia, others.
