Asthma. Bronchospasm. |
| Children |
|
<6 years: not recommended. 6–12 years: by nebulizer: 0.1–0.2mL (diluted to 3mL in saline) 3–4 times daily, up to every 4 hrs. |
| Adults |
|
Use 3–4 times daily, up to every 4 hrs. By nebulizer or IPPB: 0.2–0.3mL (diluted in 2.5mL saline). By hand bulb nebulizer: 5–15 inh (undiluted). |
| Contraindications |
|
Arrhythmias associated with tachycardia. |
| Precautions |
|
Avoid excessive use. Hypertension. Cardiovascular disease. CHF. Hyperthyroidism. Diabetes. Seizure disorders. Pregnancy (Cat.C). Nursing mothers. |
| Interactions |
|
Avoid other aerosol β-agonists. Potentiated by sympathomimetics, tricyclics, MAOIs. |
| Adverse Reactions |
|
Tachycardia, nervousness, tremor, headache, dizziness, GI upset, hypertension, paradoxical bronchospasm, cough, bad taste. |
