Indications
Mild to moderately severe pain.
Children
Use elixir. <3 years: not recommended. 3–6 years: 5mL. 7–12 years: 10mL. Both: 3–4 times daily.
Adults
#3: 1–2 tabs every 4 hours. #4 and Elixir: 1 tab or 15mL every 4 hours.
Precautions
Head injury. Increased intracranial pressure. Acute abdomen. Impaired renal, hepatic, thyroid, or adrenocortical function. GI or GU obstruction. Asthma (tabs). Drug abusers. Elderly. Debilitated. Labor and delivery. Pregnancy (Cat.C). Nursing mothers.
Interactions
Potentiation with alcohol, CNS depressants, MAOIs, tricyclic antidepressants, anticholinergics.
Adverse Reactions
Dizziness, sedation, nausea, vomiting, constipation, urinary retention, rash; overdosage: respiratory depression, hepatotoxicity.
