Lutropin alfa (recombinant luteinizing hormone) 75 IU/vial; pwd for SC inj after reconstitution.

To stimulate follicular development in infertile hypogonadotropic hypogonadal women with profound LH deficiency (LH<1.2 IU/L), in combination with follitropin alfa (Gonal-f). See literature for patient selection guidelines.
Children
Not applicable.
Adults
Initial treatment cycle: Give Luveris 75 IU with Gonal-f 75–150 IU together as two separate SC inj daily for up to 14 days or until adequate follicular development occurs (as indicated by ovary ultrasonography and serum estradiol). Give hCG one day after last dose of Luveris and Gonal-f, unless ovaries are abnormally enlarged, or abdominal pain, or excessive estradiol production occurs. Subsequent cycles: individualize.
Contraindications
Primary ovarian failure. Uncontrolled thyroid or adrenal dysfunction. Intracranial lesions. Undiagnosed abnormal vaginal bleeding. Ovarian cysts or enlargement. Sex hormone-dependent tumors. Pregnancy (Cat.X).
Precautions
Be fully familiar with infertility treatment and its complications before using this product. Do complete gynecological and endocrinological exam first. Monitor appropriate lab values. Thromboembolic disorders. If evidence of ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS) occurs, or if ovaries are abnormally enlarged on the last day of therapy, do not give hCG (this decreases risk of OHSS). Discontinue if evidence of OHSS occurs (eg, excessive number of ovarian follicles seen by serum estradiol levels or ultrasound, weight gain, dyspnea, GI upset, abdominal pain). Nursing mothers: not recommended.
Adverse Reactions
OHSS (with or without vascular and pulmonary complications), multiple births, ovarian enlargement or cysts, headache, GI upset; abdominal and breast pain; inj site reactions; risk of high-order multiple births, adnexal torsion, pulmonary/vascular complications, hemoperitoneum.
