Palliative treatment of advanced prostatic carcinoma. |

30mg as single IM inj every 4 months (16 weeks). Do not split doses. |
| Precautions |
|
May use SC form for first 2 weeks of treatment for patients at risk of worsening symptoms of metastatic vertebral lesions and/or urinary obstruction to facilitate treatment withdrawal. Metastatic vertebral lesions. Urinary obstruction. Monitor serum testosterone, PSA, acid phosphatase. Instruct patient on correct self administration. |
| Adverse Reactions |
|
Hot flashes, initial worsening of signs/symptoms (eg, bone pain, urinary tract obstruction, hematuria), edema, GI upset, pain, cardiovascular events, CNS and antiandrogenic effects, asthenia, spinal cord compression; anaphylactoid, photosensitivity, local reactions. |
