Indications
Myasthenia gravis.
Children
Not recommended.
Adults
One-thirtieth (1/30th) of oral dose IM or very slow IV inj.
Contraindications
Intestinal or urinary obstruction.
Precautions
Bronchial asthma. Cardiac dysrhythmias (inj). Monitor for cholinergic and myasthenic crisis, differentiate and treat (see literature). Pregnancy. Nursing mothers.
Interactions
Reversal of nondepolarizing muscle relaxants. Antagonized by atropine.
Adverse Reactions
GI upset, increased salivation and bronchial secretions, miosis and diaphoresis, muscle cramps, fasciculation and weakness, thrombophlebitis (inj).
