Indications
Strongyloidiasis (threadworm). Cutaneous or visceral larva migrans. Trichinosis.
Adults and Children
<30lbs: see literature. ≥30lbs: Give 2 doses/day after meals. 30lbs: 250mg/dose. ≥50lbs: 10mg/lb/dose; max 3g/day. Strongyloidosis, cutaneous larva migrans: treat for 2 days. Visceral larva migrans: treat for 7 days. Trichinosis, other infections: see literature.
Precautions
Not for mixed infections with ascaris. Not for prophylaxis. Hepatic or renal dysfunction. Discontinue immediately if hypersensitivity occurs. Pregnancy (Cat.C). Nursing mothers: not recommended.
Interactions
Potentiates theophylline, possibly others. May potentiate CNS depression with alcohol, other CNS depressants.
Adverse Reactions
Anorexia, GI upset, jaundice, dizziness, drowsiness, other CNS effects, tinnitus, blurred vision, hyperglycemia, hypotension, hematuria, crystalluria, hypersensitivity reactions.
