| Indications |
|
Strongyloidiasis (threadworm). Cutaneous or visceral larva migrans. Trichinosis. |
| Adults and Children |
|
<30lbs: see literature. ≥30lbs: Give 2 doses/day after meals. 30lbs: 250mg/dose. ≥50lbs: 10mg/lb/dose; max 3g/day. Strongyloidosis, cutaneous larva migrans: treat for 2 days. Visceral larva migrans: treat for 7 days. Trichinosis, other infections: see literature. |
| Precautions |
|
Not for mixed infections with ascaris. Not for prophylaxis. Hepatic or renal dysfunction. Discontinue immediately if hypersensitivity occurs. Pregnancy (Cat.C). Nursing mothers: not recommended. |
| Interactions |
|
Potentiates theophylline, possibly others. May potentiate CNS depression with alcohol, other CNS depressants. |
| Adverse Reactions |
|
Anorexia, GI upset, jaundice, dizziness, drowsiness, other CNS effects, tinnitus, blurred vision, hyperglycemia, hypotension, hematuria, crystalluria, hypersensitivity reactions. |
