Rubella immunization. |
| Adults and Children |
|
<12 months: not recommended. Each dose is 0.5mL SC in upper outer arm. Primary vaccination: 1 dose at 12–15 months of age. |
| Contraindications |
|
Concurrent immune globulin. Hypersensitivity to gelatin, neomycin. Active respiratory or other febrile infection. Active untreated tuberculosis. Primary or secondary immune deficiency or immunosuppression therapy. Blood dyscrasias. Bone marrow or lymphatic malignancy. Pregnancy during and up to 3 months after vaccination. |
| Precautions |
|
Have epinephrine inj available. Defer vaccination for at least 3 months after blood or plasma transfusions or immune serum globulin (except postpartum with follow-up titer after 6–8 weeks), and for at least 1 month before or after other live virus vaccines (except oral polio, mumps and measles). Pregnancy (Cat.C). Nursing mothers. |

May interfere with tuberculin tests. |
| Adverse Reactions |
|
Malaise, rash, fever, headache, local reactions, arthritic symptoms, thrombocytopenic purpura, encephalitis (rare). |
