|
Diphtheria, tetanus, and pertussis booster immunization in persons 11–64 years of age. |
| Adults and Children |
|
<11yrs or ≥65yrs: not recommended. 11–64yrs (≥5yrs after last dose of tetanus toxoid, diphtheria toxoid, and/or pertussis-containing vaccine): 0.5mL IM once into deltoid muscle. |
| Contraindications |
|
Encephalopathy within 7 days after previous DTaP or DTwP vaccination, or life-threatening reaction to related vaccine. Progressive neurologic disorders. Uncontrolled epilepsy. Progressive encephalopathy. |
| Precautions |
|
Fever (≥105 F within 48hrs), persistent inconsolable crying (≥3hrs within 48hrs), shock (within 48hrs), seizures (within 3 days), or Guillain-Barre syndrome (within 6 weeks) after previous DTaP or DTwP vaccine: see literature. Stable CNS disorders. Seizure risk. Acute illness. Immunosuppressed. Bleeding disorders. Have epinephrine (1:1000) available. Pregnancy (Cat.C). Nursing mothers. |

Local reactions, headache, fever, fatigue, arthralgia, GI upset. |
