| Adults |
|
Give by IV infusion over 35 minutes. ≥18yrs: Initially 600mg every 7 days for the first 4 weeks, followed by 900mg for the fifth dose 7 days later, then 900mg every 14 days thereafter. |
| Contraindications |
|
Unresolved serious Neisseria meningitidis infection. Individuals not vaccinated against Neisseria meningitidis. |
| Precautions |
|
Give meningococcal vaccine at least 2 weeks prior to treatment. Monitor for early signs of meningococcal or other systemic infection. Increased risk of hemolysis after treatment discontinuation; monitor for at least 8 weeks. Pregnancy (Cat.C). Nursing mothers. |

Headache, nasopharyngitis, back pain, nausea; meningococcal infection, hypersensitivity reactions. |
