| Adults and Children |
|
Do not crush or chew; may open caps and sprinkle contents on cool, soft food (pH <5.5); follow with water. Initially 1–2 caps during meals or snacks. Adjust based on control of steatorrhea. |
| Contraindications |
|
Pork allergy. Acute pancreatitis. |
| Precautions |
|
Maintain proper diet. Monitor for GI obstruction. Maintain adequate hydration. Pregnancy (Cat.C). Nursing mothers. |
| Interactions |
|
Avoid concomitant antacids. May antagonize iron. |
| Adverse Reactions |
|
Nausea, vomiting, bloating, cramps, constipation, diarrhea; hyperuricosuria, hyperuricemia (high doses). |
