Indications
Replacement therapy in pancreatic exocrine deficiency.
Adults and Children
May sprinkle on cool, soft food (pH <5.5); follow with water; do not crush or chew. <6 yrs: Individualize; ≥6 yrs: initially 1 cap during each meal or snack. Adjust based on control of steatorrhea.
Contraindications
Pork allergy. Acute pancreatitis.
Precautions
Treat primary disorder. Contents irritating to mucosa. Pregnancy (Cat.C). Nursing mothers.
Interactions
Avoid concomitant antacids.
Adverse Reactions
Nausea, cramping, diarrhea; hyperuricosuria, hyperuricemia (in high doses).
