Indications
Diarrhea.
Children
<3yrs: not recommended. 3–6yrs: 5mL. 6–9yrs: 10mL. 9–12yrs: 15mL. All: every 60 minutes if needed; max 4 doses daily.
Adults
30mL every 60 minutes if needed; max 4 doses daily.
Contraindications
Varicella or influenza in children and teenagers.
Precautions
Coagulation disorders. Diabetes. Reye's syndrome. Pregnancy. Nursing mothers: not recommended.
Interactions
Potentiates oral anticoagulants, hypoglycemics. Antagonizes uricosurics. Salicylism with aspirin. Reduces tetracycline absorption.
Adverse Reactions
Darkened tongue and/or stool.
