|
No solid food from start of prep. For both regimens start the evening before colonoscopy. Split-dose regimen: drink 240mL every 15min over 1hr until 1L consumed, then 0.5L of clear liquid; in the AM, drink 2nd liter over 1hr, then 0.5L of clear liquid at least 1hr before colonoscopy; or, Evening-only regimen: start at 6pm, drink 240mL every 15min over 1hr until 1L consumed, then drink 2nd liter 1.5hrs later over 1hr; in addition, drink 1L of clear liquid. |
| Precautions |
|
Correct electrolyte abnormalities before use. Severe ulcerative colitis. Ileus. GI obstruction or perforation. GI retention. Toxic colitis. Toxic megacolon. Impaired gag reflex. Risk of regurgitation or aspiration. G6PD deficiency. Pregnancy (Cat.C). Nursing mothers. |
| Interactions |
|
Drugs that increase risk of electrolyte abnormalities (eg, diuretics, ACEIs). Drugs administered within 1hr of start of MoviPrep may not be absorbed. |

Abdominal distention and pain, anal discomfort, thirst, GI upset. |
