≥15 years: initially apply 5mg nightly, at approximately 10PM, for 24 hours to intact clean, dry skin of the back, abdomen, thighs, or upper arms. Avoid bony prominences and areas subject to pressure during sleep. Rotate application sites. Increase to 7.5mg or decrease to 2.5mg based on confirmed AM serum testosterone concentrations. Non-virilized: initially 2.5mg nightly. |
| Contraindications |
|
Male breast or prostate cancer. Use in women. Pregnancy (Cat.X). Nursing mothers. |
| Precautions |
|
Do not apply to scrotum. Monitor liver function, hemoglobin, hematocrit, prostate specific antigen (PSA), cholesterol. May increase risk of prostatic hyperplasia in elderly. May increase growth of subclinical prostatic carcinoma. Discontinue if edema or jaundice occurs. |

May potentiate oral anticoagulants, oxyphenbutazone. May alter insulin effects. |
| Adverse Reactions |
|
Transient local itching, blistering, or irritation, prostate abnormalities, headache, depression, rash, GI bleed. |
