Pharmacological Class
Antibacterial/antifungal + topical anesthetic + steroid.
Generic Name
Chloroxylenol 1mg, pramoxine HCl 10mg, hydrocortisone 10mg; per mL; otic soln.
Indications
Superficial infections of the external auditory canal. Itching in the auditory canal.
Adults and Children
Clean ear. Infants and small children: 3 drops in ear(s). Adults: 4–5 drops in ear(s). Both: 3–4 times daily. Use saturated cotton wick for 1st 24hrs. May use 3 times daily in unaffected ear to prevent infection.
Contraindications
Perforated eardrum. Viral ear infections. Tympanostomy tubes.
Precautions
Discontinue if irritation or sensitization occurs. Pregnancy (Cat.C): not recommended. Nursing mothers.
Adverse Reactions
Local irritation, superinfection, allergic contact dermatitis.
