Monotherapy: not volume depleted: initially 600mg once daily. Usual range: 400–800mg/day given as a single dose or in two divided doses. |
| Contraindications |
|
Pregnancy (Cat.D in 2nd and 3rd trimesters). |
| Precautions |
|
Correct salt/volume depletion before beginning therapy or monitor closely. Renal impairment. Renal artery stenosis. Severe CHF. Pregnancy (Cat.C in 1st trimester). Nursing mothers: not recommended. |
| Interactions |
|
Hyperkalemia with K+ supplements, K+ sparing diuretics, K+ containing salt substitutes. |
| Adverse Reactions |
|
Viral infection, injury, fatigue, abdominal pain, hypertriglyceridemia, arthralgia, depression, urinary tract or upper respiratory tract infection, rhabdomyolysis (rare). |
