| Adults |
|
1 mg at bedtime, then increase slowly. Usually: 1–5 mg once daily in the AM; max 20 mg/day. Monitor at peak (2–3 hours after dose) and trough. If BP response is substantially diminished at 24 hours, may increase dose or give in 2 divided doses. If hypotensive effects occur at peak, consider twice daily dosing. If another antihypertensive is added, dosage reduction and retitration may be necessary. |

Syncope. Pregnancy (Cat.C). Nursing mothers. |

|
Caution with verapamil, other antihypertensives. |
| Adverse Reactions |
|
Syncope (esp. 1st dose), dizziness, somnolence, asthenia, nausea, nasal congestion, palpitations, orthostatic hypotension, blurred vision, peripheral edema; priapism (rare). |
