Generic Name
Isosorbide dinitrate 40mg; sust rel caps.
Indications
Prophylaxis and treatment of angina. Not for acute attacks.
Children
Not recommended.
Adults
Take on empty stomach. See literature. Allow at least an 18-hour interval daily between doses to avoid development of tolerance. Max 160mg/day.
Contraindications
Concomitant sildenafil.
Precautions
Recent MI. CHF. Volume depletion. Hypotension. Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. Monitor standing blood pressure when increasing doses. Avoid abrupt cessation. Pregnancy (Cat.C). Nursing mothers.
Interactions
See Contraindications. Severe hypotension with sildenafil. Hypotension potentiated with alcohol, other vasodilators, calcium channel blockers.
Adverse Reactions
Headache, flushing, dizziness, weakness, orthostatic hypotension, rash.
