Indications
Emergency treatment in anaphylaxis.
Children
0.01mg/kg IM in thigh; may repeat if needed.
Adults
0.3mg IM in thigh; may repeat if needed.
Precautions
Cardiovascular disease. Hypertension. Hyperthyroidism. Diabetes. Advise patient to seek medical help immediately. Train patient in use of device. Elderly. Children. Pregnancy (Cat.C).
Interactions
Pressor effects may be potentiated by MAOIs, tricyclic antidepressants, furazolidone, antihistamines, levothyroxine, β-blockers, guanethidine. May be antagonized by nitrites, α-blockers, other rapid-acting vasodilators. Arrhythmias possible with digitalis, mercurial diuretics, quinidine, others.
Adverse Reactions
Tachycardia, sweating, nausea, vomiting, respiratory difficulty, pallor, dizziness, weakness, tremor, headache, nervousness, anxiety, arrhythmia.
